The Weekly 5 Featuring Daredevil
Welcome to The Weekly 5 where I share 5 things I enjoyed from the week!
1. ‘Daredevil’ Disney+ Series in the Works With Matt Corman, Chris Ord Set to Write
It now appears that the project is picking up steam with the hiring of Corman and Ord, although Marvel has yet to announce anything regarding the show formally.
Variety reported this news yesterday and I’m hoping it will keep Charlie Cox on as Daredevil given his recent appearance in the MCU. The first season of the show on Netflix was fantastic and I’m already all-in on everything Marvel, so I’ll certainly be watching.
2. The Umbrella Academy Season 3 Trailer
I am so ready for the third season of the show. I love how well the cast works together and they’re throwing even more at the characters this season. It looks like it’ll be a blast.
3. She-Hulk Trailer Reaction
As most people have already pointed out, the CGI is not great in certain spots of the trailer, but I’m sure at least some of it is still being worked on before the final product is out. Nonetheless, I still love watching the trailer reactions from New Rockstars.
4. ‘The Lost World: Jurassic Park’ Is Mean-Spirited and Maligned—but It’s Also Great Fun
In true sequel fashion, The Lost World ups the ante: there are more humans, more dinosaurs, and more ambitious set pieces than its predecessor. (The film also marked an incredible moment in Hollywood when Jeff Goldblum—Jeff Goldblum!—was treated as a bona fide action star.) But having already focused on the beauty and splendor of extinct species miraculously being brought back to life in Jurassic Park, this time, Spielberg spares no expense punishing people who don’t learn their lessons about messing with Mother Nature. The Lost Worldisn’t just a movie in which greedy characters get their comeuppance—it’s unreservedly cruel across the board.
This is a fun read from Miles Surrey over at The Ringer. I finally got around to watching the Jurassic Park sequels, but have not made my way to the Jurassic World movies. This movie really was pretty cruel if you think about it and the worst crime of all was that there wasn’t enough Laura Dern in it.
5. Velma First Look
I’m still trying to process this image and whether or not it was something I enjoyed from the week. However, I do love Scooby-Doo so I probably will end up checking this out.
Content of the Week
Over on Welcome to Geekdom, I talked to Nat Brehmer about X-Men: Days of Future Past and The Uncanny X-Men #159. It was a blast.
That’s it for this week!
